New Zealand’s saint

Today’s entry in the (US) book of devotions I’m following is inspired by Luke’s story of the Transfiguration. The meditation is about Edmund Hillary (Sir Ed, as he’s referred to here in his homeland). A humble beekeeper in “real life,” after his climb of Everest and explorations in Antarctica, he used his fame and fortune on humanitarian and environmental works in Nepal. The quest for the rest of us (except Greg Mortenson) is to become transfigured without having to climb in the Himalayas.
